Are you trying to decide what material to use for your new kitchen? It's hard to know what stuff really looks and feels like from pictures. That's why we have tons of samples at our showroom. Come touch and feel quality materials at our Nottingham showroom and see what will look best in your home.

When me and Emma started Nottingham Kitchen Fitter 15 years ago, we saw lots of unhappy customers who chose materials online without seeing them first. One customer in West Bridgford picked a worktop from a website picture that looked completely different in real life! We don't want that happening to you.

Our Kitchen Showroom Nottingham.

Our material library is bigger than most kitchen fitters in the area. We've got more than 400 different samples of worktops, cabinet doors, flooring and hardware. You can touch them, see how they look in different lighting, and even test how they hold up to spills and scratches.

"Having all those samples to touch made all the difference. What I thought I wanted based on pictures online was completely different once I saw it in person." - David from Carlton

Cabinet Door Samples

We've got loads of cabinet door samples for you to look at:

  • Real wood doors in oak, walnut, maple and more
  • Painted doors in over 30 colours
  • Laminate doors that look like wood but cost less
  • Super shiny high-gloss for a modern look
  • Textured finishes that add depth

You can open and close them to see how they work, check out the hinges, and hold them up against other samples to see if they go together.

We've had customers from Beeston who were sure they wanted dark wood until they saw how it would look in their small kitchen. After seeing the samples, they chose a lighter cabinet door that made their kitchen feel twice as big!

Worktop Material Library

Worktops are the most used part of your kitchen, so picking the right one is dead important. We've got samples of:

  • Granite and other natural stones from local suppliers
  • Quartz and engineered stone that's tough as nails
  • Solid surface worktops that can be joined without seams
  • Budget-friendly laminates that look better than you'd think
  • Wood and timber options if you want a warm feel

Our worktop samples are big enough for you to really see the patterns and feel the texture. We've chosen materials that work well with Nottingham's mix of old and new houses.

When a family from Ruddington came in looking for worktops for their Victorian home, we helped them find a granite that matched the period feel of their house while still being practical for modern life.

Flooring Sample Collection

Kitchen floors need to be tough and easy to clean, but they also need to look nice. Our flooring samples include:

  • Porcelain and ceramic tiles in loads of styles
  • Luxury vinyl that's warm underfoot and waterproof
  • Engineered wood that can handle kitchen spills
  • Tough laminate that won't cost you an arm and a leg
  • Natural stone if you want something really special

You can walk on our floor samples to see how they feel, and we'll show you how they stand up to water, scratches, and heavy stuff being dropped on them.

A cafe owner from Arnold was stuck between two types of flooring. We let him take samples of both to test in his busy kitchen for a week. He was so glad we did because what looked nice in our showroom wasn't right for his busy commercial kitchen.

Hardware and Fitting Samples

The little details make a big difference. We've got samples of:

  • Handles and knobs in all shapes and sizes
  • Taps from basic mixers to fancy filtered water ones
  • Sink materials like stainless steel, granite and ceramic
  • Special hardware like pull-out bins and magic corners
  • Different finishes like chrome, brass, and matte black

You can try before you buy - open and close drawers, turn taps, and see what feels right in your hand.

"I spent ages trying different handles. Michael was so patient while I tried every single one! I'm so happy with what I chose." - Sarah from West Bridgford

Take-Home Sample Service

It's hard to know how things will look in your own kitchen. That's why we let you take samples home.

  • Borrow up to 5 samples at a time
  • Keep them for up to 5 days (longer if you ask nicely!)
  • We just take a small deposit which you get back when you return them
  • No problem if you want to try different samples later

Take them home to see how they look in your own light. What looks good in our showroom might look different in your kitchen in Mansfield or Ilkeston.

One customer from Long Eaton took home 3 different worktop samples and put them in his kitchen at different times of day. He noticed one looked greeny under his kitchen lights even though it looked grey in our showroom. That saved him from making a mistake he'd have to live with for years!

Material Comparison Area

In our showroom, we've set up a special area where you can compare different materials side by side.

  • See how different worktops look next to cabinet doors
  • Try dropping things on samples to test how tough they are
  • Spill coffee and wine on them to see how they stain
  • Feel how easy they are to clean
  • Compare weight if you're thinking about wall cabinets

This hands-on testing helps Nottingham families pick materials that will stand up to real life. One mum from Stapleford brought her toddler in (who promptly drew on a sample with a permanent marker), and we showed her which surfaces would clean up best after little "accidents".

Expert Material Guidance

Michael and Emma have been fitting kitchens around Nottingham for more than 15 years. They know their stuff and can help you choose materials that:

  • Will last a long time
  • Fit your budget
  • Work for your family's lifestyle
  • Look good together
  • Won't be a nightmare to keep clean

"Michael suggested a worktop material I'd never heard of that was half the price I expected to pay but looks amazing. Their honest advice saved us over £2,000!" - The Wilsons, Arnold

Questions People Ask About Kitchen Materials

What are the best materials for kitchen worktops?

It depends on what you need! Quartz is brilliant for most Nottingham families because it's tough, doesn't stain easily, and comes in loads of colours. Granite is natural and unique but needs a bit more looking after. Laminate is great if you're on a budget. Solid wood is lovely and warm but needs regular oiling. Come in and we'll show you the differences.

How do I choose materials that look good together?

This is where samples help tons. We usually say pick your worktop first, then match cabinet doors and floors to that. But seeing them together is key. Bring pictures of your room or even cushions or curtains you want to match. We've helped hundreds of Nottingham homeowners get the right mix.

Can I take samples home from your showroom?

Yep! You can borrow up to 5 samples for 5 days. We just need a small deposit which you get back when you return them. It's dead important to see materials in your own kitchen light.

How do I test kitchen materials for durability?

Come to our comparison area! You can spill stuff on the samples, try scratching them (we encourage it!), and see how they hold up. We've been testing materials in real Nottingham kitchens for years and know what stands up to family life.

What materials are popular in Nottingham kitchens right now?

In Nottingham, we're seeing lots of people choose matt finish cabinets in greens and blues with quartz worktops. But what's right for a Victorian terrace in The Park area is different from what works in a new build in West Bridgford. Pop in and we'll show you what's popular for houses like yours.

How much should I budget for quality kitchen materials?

For a middle-sized kitchen in Nottingham with decent quality materials, cabinet doors and worktops will usually cost between £3,000 and £7,000 depending on what you pick. But we've got options for every budget, from £1,500 to £15,000+. We're always honest about what you get for your money.
