Call Now on - 0115-647-4643
We've fitted over 800 kitchens across Nottingham and the surrounding area. Quartz worktops come up more than any other surface. Homeowners in West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold and Carlton all ask about them. It's not hard to see why.

Quartz is tough, wipes clean, doesn't need sealing, and looks good in most kitchen styles — from Victorian terraces in The Park to new builds near the city centre.

We supply, fabricate and fit quartz worktops from our workshop in Nottingham, NG8. Everything gets done locally — no middlemen, no delays waiting on stock from out of area.

What Is a Quartz Worktop?

Quartz worktops are engineered stone — roughly 93% crushed natural quartz bonded with about 7% polymer resin. That process is what gives quartz its main advantage over natural stone: the colour and pattern stay consistent all the way through the slab.

Unlike granite, which is cut straight from the ground and varies slab to slab, quartz is made to consistent standards. That's useful when you're matching an existing kitchen or want a specific look — you get exactly what you see in the sample.

If you prefer a consistent colour across the whole worktop — which most people fitting a new kitchen do — quartz is the material that delivers that. Granite can't guarantee it because no two slabs are identical.

The manufacturing process also means quartz is non-porous by nature. There are no microscopic gaps in the surface for liquids or bacteria to get into, which is why it doesn't need sealing and is easy to keep hygienic.

20 Years Experience in the Kitchen Industry
When you choose us for your quartz kitchen worktop needs, you can rest assured that the craftsmanship and quality of our services are second to none.

How Quartz Worktops Are Made

Quartz worktops start as raw crushed quartz — one of the hardest natural minerals around, harder than steel and twice as hard as glass. That quartz gets mixed with polymer resins and pigments, then pressed under high pressure and heat in a vacuum. The result is a slab that's denser and more uniform than most natural stones.

The resin binder is what holds everything together and gives quartz its non-porous quality. It also makes the material slightly flexible compared to granite, which is why quartz is less likely to crack if something heavy drops on it.

At our Nottingham workshop, we take those slabs and cut them to your exact kitchen dimensions — edge profiles, sink cutouts, hob cutouts and all. Nothing gets shipped in pre-cut from somewhere else.

Why Quartz Works Well in a Nottingham Kitchen

Nottingham's housing stock is varied. We work in everything from 1890s terraces around Forest Fields to 1960s semis in Bilborough and modern apartments near the Lace Market. Quartz suits most of them because it's flexible in terms of colour and finish — and it holds up in a busy family kitchen.

Here's what makes it a practical choice:
  • Non-porous — liquids sit on the surface rather than soaking in. No staining from red wine, coffee or curry paste.
  • No sealing required — granite and some natural stones need resealing every year or two. Quartz doesn't. That's one less thing to think about.
  • Scratch resistant — hard enough for daily kitchen use. Still worth using a chopping board, but it handles knocks well.
  • Heat resistant — quartz can handle normal kitchen heat. Don't put a roasting pan straight from the oven onto it without a trivet, but hot mugs and pans are fine.
  • Anti-bacterial — because the surface is non-porous, bacteria have nowhere to hide in the worktop itself. That matters in a food prep area.
  • Easy to clean — warm water and a cloth does the job most of the time. You don't need specialist cleaners.

Durability and Low Maintenance — Why Busy Nottingham Families Choose Quartz

The main reason quartz has become the go-to worktop surface for families across Nottinghamshire is simple: it doesn't ask much of you. Granite looks great but needs annual sealing and careful handling. Marble is beautiful but stains. Laminate is cheap but doesn't last. Quartz sits in the middle — genuinely durable, genuinely low-maintenance, and good-looking with it.

Unlike natural stone, quartz doesn't have the random colour variations that can make matching difficult. That consistency is particularly useful in open-plan kitchens — common in houses across West Bridgford and Arnold — where the worktop is visible from the living area and becomes part of the overall look of the room.

Quartz is also chip-resistant in normal use. The polymer binder gives it a slight give that natural stone doesn't have, which means a heavy pan handle dropping on the edge is less likely to cause damage than it would with granite or marble.

Functional, Stylish and Hygienic

Quartz isn't just practical — it looks good. The range of finishes available means it works in kitchens that are going for very different aesthetics.

Polished quartz has a high sheen that bounces light around the kitchen — good in north-facing kitchens, which we see a lot of in terraced properties across Nottingham's inner areas. Honed quartz has a matte finish that's softer and more forgiving on fingerprints. Textured finishes add depth and interest without going too bold.

Because the surface is non-porous and seamless, there are no grout lines or joins for food residue to collect in. That's a hygiene advantage over tiled worktops, which some older Nottingham kitchens still have. A wipe-down is genuinely all it takes.

Heat Resistance — What You Need to Know

Quartz is heat resistant, but the terms matter. The quartz mineral itself handles high temperatures fine. The polymer resin that holds it together is more sensitive. Sustained high heat — like a roasting tin coming straight out of a 220°C oven — can cause the resin to expand faster than the quartz, which creates thermal stress. In the worst cases, that can cause a crack.

In practice, this rarely happens if you use trivets and pan stands, which most people do anyway. Hot mugs, kettles, warm plates and pans from the hob are not a problem. Just don't use quartz as a resting spot for heavy oven cookware straight from a very hot oven.

This is the one area where granite has a clear advantage — it's genuinely heatproof. If you cook a lot and tend to put hot things down wherever is convenient, it's worth considering.

Eco-Friendly Credentials

Quartz is a more sustainable choice than you might expect. Natural stone quarrying involves significant energy use and environmental disruption to extract large slabs from the ground. Quartz manufacturing uses crushed stone — including waste material from other stone processes — and produces a denser, more consistent product with less waste per slab.

The longevity of quartz also counts in its favour. A well-fitted quartz worktop in a Nottingham kitchen should last 20–30 years without needing replacement. That's better for the environment than cheaper surfaces that need replacing every 8–10 years.

How We Do It — From First Visit to Finished Worktop

We do everything in-house at our Nottingham workshop. That keeps the process straightforward and means we control the quality at every stage.

Stage 1 — Free Consultation and Quote

We come to your home — whether you're in Ruddington, Long Eaton, Mapperley or anywhere within about 20 miles of Nottingham city centre — and take a proper look at your kitchen. We help you pick a quartz that fits your style and budget, and we give you a written quote before we leave. No pressure, no obligation. You can also come to our workshop in NG8 if you'd prefer to see the slabs in person before deciding.

Stage 2 — Laser Templating

Our fitters use laser measuring equipment to get the exact dimensions of your kitchen. This is more accurate than old-school manual templating and means the worktop fits properly the first time — no gaps, no trimming on site. Any complications — like uneven walls, awkward corners or structural quirks common in older Nottingham properties — get identified and planned for at this stage.

Stage 3 — Fabrication at Our Nottingham Workshop

We cut and finish the quartz at our workshop on Dulverton Vale, NG8. Stone masons do the edge profiles, cutouts for sinks and hobs, and any custom shapes by hand. We source quartz slabs through established wholesale contacts — both UK-based and international manufacturers — which keeps costs competitive without cutting corners on quality. Because fabrication happens locally, lead times are shorter than if you were ordering through a national supplier.

Stage 4 — Installation

Our fitting team comes back to your home to install the worktop, usually within 5–10 working days of your confirmed order. We handle the full installation including any sink cutouts and upstands. We'll flag anything that needs doing beforehand — like plumbing disconnection — at the first visit, so there are no surprises on the day.

Popular Quartz Worktop Choices

Carrera Quartz — Our Most Popular Option

Quartz worktops come in many different Styles, Colours, and Design Options. Carrera Quartz is what most Nottingham homeowners end up choosing. It's a 20mm white quartz with subtle grey veining — it mimics the look of Carrara marble without the maintenance issues that come with natural marble. It doesn't stain, doesn't need sealing, and the veining gives it enough character to work as a feature without dominating the room.

It works well in both traditional kitchens — common in older properties around The Park, Mapperley and West Bridgford — and more contemporary designs in newer developments. The white-grey combination is also forgiving in terms of what cabinet colours it pairs with.

Carrera Quartz is available in 20mm thickness as standard. We can source 30mm for a chunkier worktop edge if that's the look you're going for.

Other Colours and Finishes

Beyond Carrera, we stock and source quartz in a wide range of colours — whites, creams, greys, blacks, blues and earthy tones. The colour goes all the way through the slab, so chips and scratches don't expose a different colour underneath.

Finishes include:
  • Polished — high gloss, reflects light, shows fingerprints more
  • Honed — flat matte finish, warmer look, more forgiving on marks
  • Textured — adds depth and grip, popular in kitchens with young children
We'll bring samples to your home so you can see them in your actual kitchen light — which makes a real difference when you're choosing between similar colours. A grey that looks warm in the showroom can look cold in a north-facing Nottingham kitchen. Seeing it in situ is always better.

Bespoke and Custom Quartz Worktops

Standard straight runs are straightforward. But a lot of Nottingham kitchens aren't straightforward — particularly in older terraced and semi-detached properties where walls aren't square, alcoves are awkward and every kitchen has its own quirks.
We handle bespoke and custom fabrication at our NG8 workshop. That includes:
  • Curved worktop edges and profiles — ogee, bullnose, bevelled and flat polished
  • Integrated upstands cut from the same quartz slab
  • Sink cutouts — undermount, inset and Belfast sink profiles
  • Hob cutouts for gas, induction and ceramic
  • Waterfall edges — where the worktop wraps down the side of an island
  • Matching window sills and splashbacks in the same quartz
If your kitchen has an unusual layout — and many in Nottingham do — we'll measure and fabricate to fit exactly. Nothing gets forced. Transform your kitchen, bathroom, or commercial space with our Customising Quartz Worktops service and experience the perfect blend of beauty, functionality, and personalisation.

Quartz vs Granite — Which Is Right for You?

We fit both, so we're not going to tell you quartz is always the answer. It depends on what you want.
Granite is natural stone — every slab is different, which some people love. It needs sealing annually to stay stain-resistant. It's genuinely heatproof. Cost is broadly similar to quartz, though it varies more by slab because the pattern and colour are unique to each piece.

Quartz has a more consistent appearance, which suits most fitted kitchens. It doesn't need sealing, cleans more easily, and is slightly more forgiving day-to-day. The trade-off is heat sensitivity — use trivets for heavy oven cookware and you won't have any problems.

Granite is also heavier than quartz, which occasionally matters in older Nottingham properties where the cabinet carcasses aren't as robust. We'll flag that if it's relevant during the consultation.

If you want a one-of-a-kind natural stone look and don't mind a bit more maintenance — granite. If you want low-maintenance, consistent colour and easy cleaning — quartz. We've written a more detailed comparison if you want to go deeper on the differences.

Quartz for Commercial Kitchens and Workspaces in Nottingham

Quartz isn't just for home kitchens. We fit quartz worktops and countertops in commercial spaces across Nottingham — restaurants, cafes, office kitchens, hotel rooms, staff break rooms and retail counters.

In commercial settings, quartz's advantages are even more relevant. It handles constant use, wipes down quickly between service periods, and meets hygiene requirements for food preparation areas. The non-porous surface means there's nowhere for bacteria to harbour — important in any catering or food business environment.

We've worked with businesses in Nottingham city centre, along the Victoria Centre retail strip, and in the industrial and business parks around Beeston and Long Eaton. Lead times and fitting can often be arranged around trading hours to minimise disruption.

If you're a commercial client, call us directly on 0115-647-4643 to discuss your requirements. Commercial projects are quoted separately and we can work to your timescales. Choosing Quartz offers many benefits as opposed to other kitchen worktops. Discover the full advantages and essential considerations of quartz worktops and countertops in commercial spaces in our detailed guide, designed to help you make an informed choice for your business.

How Much Do Quartz Worktops Cost in Nottingham?

Supply-only prices start at around £200 per square metre for entry-level quartz. Premium slabs and thicker profiles (30mm vs 20mm) push that toward £600–700 per square metre.

For a typical straight-run kitchen worktop in 20mm quartz — around 5 metres including an upstand — you're usually looking at between £800 and £1,400 fully fitted, depending on the quartz chosen and the complexity of the job. Islands, L-shapes and custom fabrication add to that.

Factors that affect the final price:
  • Quartz colour and grade — entry-level plain quartz costs less than premium veined slabs
  • Thickness — 20mm is standard, 30mm costs more
  • Number of cutouts — each sink or hob cutout adds to fabrication time
  • Edge profile — a flat polish is standard, decorative profiles like ogee cost more
  • Kitchen layout — straight runs are faster to fit than complex L-shapes or islands
We don't give ballpark quotes over the phone because every kitchen is different. We'll come out, measure up and give you a proper written price. That's always free and there's no obligation to go ahead.

Cleaning and Looking After Your Quartz Worktop

Most of the time, warm water and a cloth is all you need. For stubborn marks, a small amount of washing-up liquid works fine. Rinse with clean water and dry with a cloth — that's it.

Avoid harsh abrasives or bleach-based products. They won't damage the quartz itself but can dull the finish over time, particularly on polished surfaces. Avoid anything with a pH above 8.5 or below 4 — so no oven cleaner, no undiluted vinegar, no neat bleach.

For dried-on food or grease, a plastic scraper works well before wiping. Don't use metal scrapers or wire wool — they'll scratch the surface.

Quartz doesn't need sealing, so there's no annual maintenance to think about. One thing to watch: the resin in quartz can fade with prolonged UV exposure. That's rare in a standard Nottingham kitchen but worth knowing if your kitchen gets a lot of direct sunlight through south-facing windows, or if you're considering quartz for a conservatory. If you have any further questions about cleaning quartz worktops, be sure to consult with our professional team for advice

Frequently Asked Questions about Quartz Kitchen Worktops

Does quartz need to be sealed?

No. It's non-porous, so sealing isn't needed. That's one of the main practical advantages over granite and marble, both of which need annual sealing to stay stain-resistant. With quartz, you just clean it and use it.

Can you put hot pans on quartz?

It's heat resistant, but not entirely heatproof. A hot mug, a warm plate or a pan from the hob are all fine. A roasting tin straight from a 200°C oven is where problems can occur — the thermal shock from extreme direct heat can stress the resin. Use a trivet for heavy oven cookware and you'll have no issues.

Can you put a microwave on a quartz worktop?

Yes. Quartz handles the weight and the ambient heat from a microwave without any problems. Make sure there's adequate ventilation around the appliance as the manual recommends — that applies regardless of the worktop surface.

How long does installation take?

Once your order is confirmed, we fabricate and fit within 5–10 working days on average. The actual installation at your home usually takes half a day to a full day depending on kitchen size and complexity. We'll give you a specific timeframe when we confirm your order.

Is quartz cheaper than granite?

They're broadly similar in price. Both start around £200 per square metre and go up depending on quality and thickness. Quartz can work out cheaper long-term because you never need to buy sealant or pay for resealing. Granite has more price variation because no two slabs are identical — a particularly striking slab costs more.

Does quartz scratch?

It's scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Day-to-day kitchen use won't mark it. Dragging a sharp knife hard across the surface repeatedly will eventually leave a mark, but that's true of most surfaces. Use a chopping board and you won't have any issues.

How do you tell quartz and granite apart?

Granite has a speckled, grainy appearance — you can see individual mineral crystals. The pattern varies across the slab. Quartz looks more uniform, often with a smoother appearance and more consistent patterning. Veined quartz like Carrera is designed to mimic marble rather than granite — the veins are more flowing and less grainy.

What are the disadvantages of quartz?

Honestly? A few. It's not cheap — it's a premium surface and it's priced that way. It's not fully heatproof, so trivets are a must if you use heavy oven cookware. It can fade with prolonged UV exposure, so it's not great outdoors or in full-sun conservatories. And it's heavy, which means professional installation is essential — this isn't a DIY job. Those are the real trade-offs. For most kitchens in Nottingham, none of those are dealbreakers, but it's better to know upfront.

Our Quartz Worktop Reviews

Jackie Cottis – West Bridgford, NG2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Had my quartz worktops fitted last month and honestly couldn't be happier. The lads were brilliant, turned up when they said they would which is more than I can say for other tradesmen I've used!! Kitchen looks completely different now. Only thing I'd say is the templating visit took a bit longer than expected but they explained everything so didn't mind really. Would 100% recommend to anyone in West Bridgford looking for new worktops."

Rodger Kowalski – Beeston, NG9 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Good service overall. Worktops look great, very happy with the finish. Gave 4 stars not 5 because there was a bit of a wait between the template visit and the actual fitting but nothing major. The fitter (think his name was Justin?) was proper professional and tidied up after himself which my wife was pleased about lol. Quality of the quartz is excellent, no complaints there."

Janet West – Arnold, NG5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Where do i start!! We had our whole kitchen done including the quartz and its absolutley stunning. Michael came out and spent proper time with us going through all the options, never felt rushed or pressured into anything. We went for the dark grey quartz and its transformed the whole room. My neighbour has already asked for the number! Only downside was parking was a nightmare for the fitters on our street but they got on with it no bother. Highly recommend."

T. Okonkwo – Mapperley, NG3 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Used these after seeing their work at a friends house in Carlton. Really pleased we did. Price was fair, not the cheapest quote we got but you can tell the difference in quality. Quartz worktop looks amazing and the integrated sink they did is just perfect, no edges or joins anywhere. Very clean finish. Communication was good throughout and they kept us updated. Will be using again when we do the bathroom."

Karen & Phil Denton – Ruddington, NG11 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Decent company, did what they said they'd do. Phil was sceptical at first about spending the money on quartz but even he admits it was worth it now ha. The worktop itself is brilliant quality and wipes clean really easily which is exactly what I wanted. Docked a star because one of the cuts wasn't quite right first time and needed adjusting but they came back same week and sorted it no questions asked so fair play to them for that."

Ryan Slater – Hucknall, NG15 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Mate recommended them and glad he did. Straight talking lads, no nonsense. Told me exactly what was what from the start, no hidden costs or surprises on the invoice which I half expected tbh. Quartz looks well smart in the kitchen, the missus is made up with it. Fitting took about a day and a half which was fine. House was left clean and tidy. Top job lads"
