A kitchen project pulls in more trades than most homeowners expect: a joiner for the cabinetry, a plumber for the sink and appliances, an electrician for the wiring, sometimes a gas engineer for the hob, and a plasterer to finish the walls once everything's fitted. As a family-run kitchen specialist working across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands for over 20 years, we coordinate all of that under one roof, so a single phone call sets the whole job in motion rather than five separate ones.

We've completed more than 800 kitchens for local homeowners, from tight, awkward layouts in Victorian terraces around the Lace Market to open-plan apartments closer to the city centre, and every one has gone through the same design, survey, fit and sign-off process described below.

What's Actually Included in a Full Kitchen Fit-Out

  • Free in-home design consultation, with CAD and interactive floor-planning software so you see a photo-realistic layout of your new kitchen before committing to anything
  • A technical site survey covering wall condition, floor levels, existing plumbing and electrics -- important in Nottingham's older housing stock, where uneven period floors and non-standard wall construction are common
  • Bespoke cabinetry and cabinet-making, built by City & Guilds trained master craftsmen, from hand-finished Shaker styles to handleless contemporary units
  • Stone and engineered worktops -- granite, Italian marble, quartz, or ultra-tough sintered surfaces like Corian and Dekton -- laser-templated, cut in-house and fitted seamlessly by expert stonemasons
  • Plumbing integration of sinks, taps, dishwashers and other appliances, carried out by NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds certified plumbers
  • Electrical infrastructure and full safety certification from Part P approved installers
  • Gas hob and range installation and commissioning by Gas Safe registered engineers, where a gas connection is part of the design
  • Plastering and finishing work
  • Full project management, coordinating every trade so you deal with one team rather than juggling separate tradespeople
  • Removal of old units and site waste under a registered waste carrier licence
  • A written agreement before work starts, and formal sign-off with a written installation warranty on completion

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Structural alterations that need calculations from a separate structural engineer -- a site survey can flag whether a wall looks like a candidate for removal, but sign-off on load-bearing changes sits outside the kitchen fit itself
  • Appliances are quoted and itemised separately from the base fitting price, not bundled into it as standard
  • Respraying or repainting an existing kitchen is a different service line from a new bespoke cabinetry build, and is priced on its own basis
  • Work outside the kitchen footprint -- wider house rewiring, whole-property redecorating -- unless it's specifically written into the agreed quote
  • Finance for kitchens starting from around £5,000 is arranged through a separate FCA-regulated finance partner, subject to status, rather than offered directly

How a Kitchen Fit-Out Runs From First Call to Handover

  1. Free home visit and design consultation -- A designer measures the room, talks through how you use the space, and builds a CAD layout with interactive floor-planning software so you can see a photo-realistic version of the finished kitchen before agreeing to anything.
  2. Technical site survey -- A follow-up survey checks wall condition, floor levels, and the state of existing plumbing and electrics -- particularly important in Nottingham's older housing stock, where solid brick walls, uneven floors and outdated wiring are common in properties that haven't been touched since they were built.
  3. Written quotation and agreement -- You get a full written quotation itemising cabinetry, worktops, appliances (priced separately) and labour, with no hidden extras. Once you're happy, a written agreement is signed before any work starts.
  4. Removal and preparation -- The old kitchen comes out and is cleared under our registered waste carrier licence, and the room is prepared, including first fix plumbing and electrics if the layout is changing.
  5. Installation -- Carpentry and cabinet fitting, worktop templating and installation, plumbing, electrical connections, any gas hob commissioning, and plastering are carried out in sequence by the relevant qualified trade, project-managed so you're not scheduling each one yourself.
  6. Sign-off and warranty -- The finished kitchen gets a formal sign-off walkthrough and a written installation warranty -- 5 years on labour and installation, 2 years on products.

What a New Kitchen Actually Costs

Kitchens through us start from around £5,000, though the final figure depends on the size of the room, the cabinetry style (hand-finished Shaker units cost more to build than simpler handleless designs), and the worktop material -- laminate sits at the affordable end, while granite, Italian marble, quartz and sintered surfaces like Dekton or Corian cost more due to templating, in-house cutting and stonemason fitting. Appliances are quoted separately rather than folded into the base price, so you know what you're paying for each part of the job. Flexible finance is available through an FCA-regulated partner, subject to status, if you'd rather spread the cost. None of this replaces an actual figure for your kitchen -- a full, no-obligation written quotation only comes after a site visit, once we've seen the room, the existing plumbing and electrics, and what you actually want built.

Priced Honestly, Built With Materials We'd Use Ourselves

We're not going to pretend to be the cheapest quote you'll get for a Nottingham kitchen, and we'd rather lose a job on price than win one by cutting into materials. Every unit, worktop and fitting is chosen from ranges vetted in-house, not swapped for a cheaper alternative to shave a few pounds off a quote once work starts -- what you see costed in the written agreement is what goes into the kitchen. That written agreement itself is worth reading properly: it sets out the full price before a tool touches your walls, so there's no negotiating extras once units are half-fitted. As a family-run business rather than a national chain, the people who quote the job are the same people who turn up to fit it, and we're proud members of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) -- bodies that hold small building and trades businesses like ours to a standard, rather than us simply claiming one. If the numbers are tight, flexible finance through an FCA-regulated partner is available on kitchens from around £5,000, subject to status, so paying for quality doesn't have to mean paying it all upfront.

Where We Fit Kitchens Across Nottingham and the East Midlands

We're based in Nottingham and work from a dedicated regional workshop, covering Greater Nottingham -- West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton -- plus Nottinghamshire towns including Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford, and into Derbyshire as far as Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor. That's roughly a 15-20 mile radius from the workshop, stretching out toward Chesterfield and the Derbyshire border. Older Nottingham properties bring their own quirks: city conservation areas near Nottingham Castle and the sandstone caves that run underneath much of the centre often sit on uneven period floors that need levelling before cabinetry goes in, while Wollaton's mix of period and inter-war housing tends to suit classic Shaker-style layouts more than handleless contemporary ones. For anyone along the tram corridor -- Hucknall through to Beeston and Clifton -- our fitting teams and delivery vehicles run the same route as the NET tram most days, so scheduling site visits in those areas is straightforward.

Kitchen Installation Questions We Get Asked Most

Do I need to be in the house while the kitchen's being fitted?

Most people do stay, though it isn't compulsory. Larger jobs that involve moving plumbing or knocking through a wall opening usually mean no working kitchen for a stretch of the project, so some homeowners set up a temporary kettle-and-microwave spot elsewhere in the house, or plan around eating out for a few days.

How long does a typical kitchen installation take?

A straightforward like-for-like refit -- same layout, no structural changes -- usually runs to one to two weeks once the old units are out. Anything involving moved plumbing, rewiring, plastering or a stone worktop with a longer lead time for templating and cutting will run longer; the survey stage gives a realistic timescale for your specific job rather than a generic estimate.

Can you install a gas hob or range cooker?

Yes -- gas hob and range installation and commissioning is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers as part of the job where a gas connection is part of the design. If your current supply needs moving or upgrading, that gets flagged at survey stage.

What if the survey finds a wall I wanted removed is load-bearing?

We'll tell you honestly. Our site survey can flag whether a wall looks like a load-bearing candidate, but sign-off on removing it needs calculations from a separate structural engineer -- that's outside what a kitchen fit itself covers, so we'd point you toward that step rather than proceed without it.

Are appliances included in the price?

No -- appliances are quoted and itemised separately from the base fitting price, so you can choose your own brands and specification rather than being tied to a package.

Do you take away the old kitchen and rubbish?

Yes, removal of the old units and site waste is included and handled under our registered waste carrier licence, so you don't need to arrange a skip or separate clearance yourself.

What happens if something goes wrong after the kitchen's finished?

Every project gets a formal sign-off and a written installation warranty -- 5 years on labour and installation, 2 years on products -- so if something needs attention afterwards, you contact the same team that fitted it rather than a call centre.

Is finance available?

Yes, flexible finance is available through an FCA-regulated finance partner, subject to status, for kitchens starting from around £5,000. It's arranged separately from the main quotation rather than built into it.
