Nottingham Kitchen Fitter has been designing and fitting kitchens across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands for over 20 years, and stone worktops -- marble included -- are laser-templated, CNC-cut and fitted by our own stonemasons rather than passed to a subcontractor. That matters with a material like marble, because the same team who measured your kitchen also cuts and fits it, so nothing gets lost between the survey and the finished job. If marble turns out not to be the right material for your household -- it's a porous stone and not for everyone -- our kitchen worktop page covers the granite, quartz and Corian alternatives we also supply and fit.

Before anything is cut, you'll get a free home consultation, and if you're combining the worktop with a wider kitchen refit, a CAD floor-plan so you can see roughly how the finished space will look before committing to a slab.

What's Included in a Marble Worktop Installation

  • Free home consultation and slab selection
  • 3D laser templating of your kitchen
  • CNC cutting and hand-finished edge profiles
  • Sink, hob and tap cut-outs
  • Upstands and matching splashback sections where specified
  • Professional adhesive fixing, buffing and polishing on-site
  • Silicone-sealed edges and joints
  • Removal and legal disposal of your old worktop under our registered waste carrier licence
What's Included in a Marble Worktop Installation

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Structural alterations to cabinetry needed to support the extra weight of stone -- quoted separately if your existing units aren't strong enough
  • Gas hob connection and commissioning, which is scheduled with our Gas Safe registered engineer as a separate stage
  • Ongoing resealing after the installation warranty period -- marble needs periodic resealing, which is down to the homeowner
  • An exact colour or vein match to a slab you've seen elsewhere -- natural stone varies block to block, so we work from the actual slab you choose in person

From Free Consultation to Finished Worktop

  1. Free home consultation -- We visit to talk through marble options, show slab samples and finishes, and if you're planning wider kitchen work, put together a CAD floor-plan so you can see roughly how it will look.
  2. Laser templating -- Once you've chosen a slab, we return with 3D laser scanning equipment to map your cabinetry, walls and any awkward corners precisely, so the cut worktop fits first time.
  3. CNC cutting and edge finishing -- Your template goes to our workshop, where the marble is cut on CNC machinery and finished by hand -- edge profile, sink and hob cut-outs, and any upstands -- before it reaches your kitchen.
  4. Removal and fitting -- On installation day we remove your old worktop, disposed of legally under our registered waste carrier licence, fit the new marble with a high-grade adhesive, then buff, polish and seal the edges with silicone.
  5. Sign-off and aftercare advice -- We check the finished job with you, hand over care and sealing advice, and confirm your written installation warranty before we leave.

Marble Worktop Costs in Nottingham

Marble worktops are priced by the slab, so there's a real range depending on the marble you choose, the size and shape of your kitchen run, how many cut-outs (sink, hob, tap) are needed and the edge profile you pick -- a simple square-edge run in a mid-range marble costs less than a heavily veined slab with a bullnose edge and integrated upstands. As a broad reference point, full kitchen projects through us start from around £5,000, with flexible finance available through an FCA-regulated finance partner, subject to status, if you're combining the worktop with wider cabinetry work. For a worktop-only job, the only way to give you an accurate figure is a free home visit and template, because natural stone pricing depends on the specific slab in front of us, not a generic per-metre rate quoted over the phone.

Marble vs Granite vs Quartz Worktops

Feature Marble Granite Quartz
Heat resistance Good, but avoid placing hot pans directly on the surface Very good -- one of the most heat-tolerant options Fair -- can scorch or discolour under direct heat from pans
Everyday durability Softer stone, more prone to scratches and chips Very hard-wearing, resists scratches well Hard-wearing, consistent performance across the slab
Staining / porosity Porous -- needs regular sealing to resist oil and wine stains Low porosity, sealing still recommended Non-porous, resists staining without sealing
Maintenance Reseal periodically, avoid acidic cleaners Occasional resealing, straightforward cleaning Wipe clean, no sealing needed
Appearance Natural veining -- no two slabs identical Natural flecked pattern, slab-to-slab variation Engineered -- consistent pattern and colour
Typical price position Often lower than granite, varies by slab Can cost more than marble depending on the stone Priced similarly to granite depending on the range

What Handling a Porous Stone Well Actually Takes

Marble is the stone that catches most people out -- it's softer than granite, porous, and will mark if a glass of wine or a splash of oil sits on it overnight, so it can't be templated, cut and fitted the same way as a harder surface. Our stonemasons seal every marble worktop as part of the installation rather than treating sealing as an optional extra, and choose edge profiles with the slab's grain and veining in mind, since a bullnose edge on a heavily veined piece behaves differently to the same cut on granite. That approach comes from having worked across a wide mix of stone and surface types over 800+ kitchens for local homeowners in more than 20 years trading, from tricky Victorian terraces in the Lace Market to modern city-centre apartments -- and it carries through to the trades either side of the stonemasons. Sink and tap cut-outs are integrated by our NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds certified plumbers, and where a run of cabinetry needs reinforcing to carry the extra weight of a solid stone slab, that's picked up by our City & Guilds trained carpenters at the consultation stage, not discovered on fitting day. Every marble job is confirmed in a written agreement before any cutting starts, backed by a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on materials, and we're members of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Areas We Cover Around Nottingham

We work across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands from our regional workshop, covering Greater Nottingham -- West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton -- plus Nottinghamshire towns including Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford, and into Derbyshire as far as Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor, roughly a 15-20 mile radius that stretches towards Chesterfield and the Derbyshire border. In the Lace Market and Creative Quarter, where exposed brick and matte-black hardware are popular, a heavily veined black marble slab suits that industrial-chic look particularly well. In older Nottingham properties near the Castle and the sandstone caves, floors and cabinet runs can have settled unevenly over the decades -- worth flagging at the home visit, since a solid stone slab needs a level, well-supported carcass underneath it, not just a flat line to work to.

Marble Worktop Questions We Get Asked in Nottingham

Do you guarantee your marble worktop installation?

Yes. We give a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on the materials themselves, and every job ends with a formal sign-off and a written installation warranty, so you have something in writing if a problem comes up later.

Will you take away my old worktop?

Yes, removal of your existing worktop is part of the job. We dispose of it legally under our registered waste carrier licence rather than leaving you to arrange a skip or a tip run yourself.

How long does it take from choosing a slab to having it fitted?

It varies by marble type and how busy our workshop is, since every slab is cut to order rather than kept in stock. After your home visit and template, we'll give you a realistic fitting date -- it's not something we can quote accurately without knowing the slab and the job first.

Can I see what my kitchen will look like before the marble is cut?

If you're combining the worktop with a wider kitchen refit, yes -- our CAD and floor-planning software gives a photo-realistic view of the finished space before anything is committed to, which is useful for checking how a busy marble vein will sit against your cabinetry.
