What Our Worktop Edging Service Covers
- A free home visit to measure the existing worktop and talk through edge profile and material options
- Laser templating for an exact fit before anything is cut
- In-house cutting and shaping of the chosen edge profile -- CNC machining for stone and porcelain, carpentry tools for laminate and solid surface
- Jointing and on-site fitting by our stonemasons and joiners, with sanding, polishing or sealing as the finishing step
- Disconnection and reconnection of sinks and taps by our NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds plumbers where the worktop itself is being replaced
- A written installation warranty and formal sign-off once the job is finished

Not Included / Costed Separately
- Structural repairs to damaged or rotten cabinets underneath the worktop -- these are quoted separately once we have had a look
- Full kitchen redesign or new cabinetry -- available under a separate design and supply quote if you want to go further than the worktop itself
- Ongoing resealing of granite or solid surface edges after the first year or two -- routine homeowner maintenance rather than part of the original job
- Gas hob disconnection and recommissioning -- carried out by our Gas Safe registered engineers as a coordinated but separately certified part of the project

How a Worktop Edging Job Runs, Start to Finish
- Free home visit: We come out to measure the worktop, look at the cabinets underneath and talk through which edge profile and material actually suit how the kitchen gets used.
- Laser templating: Once you have picked a profile, we template the worktop on site so the cut is exact -- no gaps and no proud edges once it goes back in.
- Cutting and shaping: Granite, quartz and porcelain go through CNC machining in the workshop; laminate and solid surface are cut and shaped with regular carpentry tools. Either way it happens off-site, so your kitchen is not out of action while it is cut.
- Fitting and finishing: Our stonemasons and joiners fit and joint the worktop on site, then sand, polish or seal the edge depending on the material.
- Sign-off and warranty: We check the finished edge with you, hand over a written installation warranty, and clear away the offcuts under our registered waste carrier licence.
What Worktop Edging Costs
Price mostly comes down to two things: the material and how much machining the profile needs. A square edge in laminate is the cheapest option to cut and fit; an ogee or bullnose in granite or quartz takes longer on the CNC and costs more as a result. Re-edging or replacing a section of existing worktop is a smaller job than a full worktop replacement, which in turn is smaller than a full kitchen -- our kitchens as complete projects start from around £5,000, with finance available through an FCA-regulated partner subject to status, but a worktop-only job is priced on its own merits. The only way to get a firm figure is a site visit, which is free and comes with a written quotation with no hidden extras.

Worktop Materials Compared
| Material | Durability | Typical cost | Maintenance | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Granite | Very durable, resists heat and scratches | Higher | Occasional resealing | Traditional kitchens, natural grain look |
| Quartz | Very durable, resists heat and stains | Higher | Low -- non-porous | High-traffic kitchens, consistent pattern |
| Solid surface | Durable, scratches can be sanded out | Mid-range | Low, repairable | Seamless runs, integrated sinks |
| Porcelain | Very durable, resists heat and stains | Mid to higher | Low -- non-porous | Stone-look finish at lower weight |
| Laminate | Moderate, vulnerable to heavy impact | Lower | Wipe clean | Budget-conscious kitchens, easy to replace |
