If your kitchen cabinets are chipped, water-stained, hanging off their hinges or just looking tired, replacing the whole kitchen isn't always necessary. We repair and restore cabinets in place wherever possible, using the same traditional joinery methods our cabinet makers and joiners use to build kitchens from scratch. Whether it's a single warped door or a full set of solid wood units that need stripping and refinishing, we assess what's actually there before recommending a repair, restoration or replacement, and we're honest when a cabinet has gone past saving. If you're weighing this up against further work, it's worth seeing how it fits alongside our wider kitchen design and installation service.
What's Covered by a Cabinet Repair or Restoration - Not Included / Costed Separately
- Replacing a whole cabinet carcass where the frame itself has failed structurally -- at that point it's a new cabinet build, priced and quoted separately from a repair
- Worktops, sinks, taps and appliances themselves -- we work around them to access the cabinet, but repairing or replacing those is a separate job
- An exact factory match to a discontinued mass-market door colour -- we can get very close with a custom-mixed finish, but we won't promise an identical match we can't actually deliver
- Cabinets where the timber has rotted or delaminated right through the structure -- we'll say so honestly rather than charge for a repair that won't hold

Repair, Restore or Replace: How the Options Compare
| Repair & restoration (this service) | Full new kitchen cabinets | DIY or general handyman | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | £200-300 for a simple repair, £1,500-2,500 for a full refinish | £5,000-10,000+ for a full new kitchen | Cheap on paper, but no guaranteed method or outcome |
| Joinery method | Traditional joinery matching how your existing cabinets were built, by City & Guilds trained joiners | New factory-made units to your chosen design | Depends entirely on the individual's own skill and tools |
| Disruption | Many repairs done in situ; larger jobs see cabinets removed, worked on off-site, and reinstalled within days | Full kitchen strip-out -- typically days to weeks without a working kitchen | Usually quick, but rework is common if the fix doesn't hold |
| Aftercare | Written installation warranty on the completed repair | Written installation warranty, plus 5-year labour and 2-year product guarantee | Rarely offered |
| Best suited to | Solid, well-built cabinets with cosmetic, structural or water damage | Cabinets beyond saving, or a full kitchen redesign | Very minor cosmetic touch-ups only |
Real Joiners, Not Just Fitters
Our cabinet repairs hold up because the same craftsmen who build kitchens from scratch are the ones fixing them. Carpentry and cabinet making is carried out by City & Guilds trained master craftsmen, so a repaired joint or a remade door is built the way the original cabinet was, not patched with whatever's quickest to hand. We're family-run, working across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands for over 20 years, and have completed 800+ kitchens for local homeowners -- from Victorian terraces to modern apartments -- which is a large part of where our sense for what different eras of cabinet actually need comes from. We're not a national chain, so the person who assesses your cabinets is part of the small team who does the work. Every finished repair gets a written installation warranty, and we're members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Cabinet Repairs Across Nottingham and the East Midlands
We're based in Nottingham and cover Greater Nottingham -- West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton -- plus Nottinghamshire towns including Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford, and into Derbyshire as far as Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor, roughly a 15-20 mile radius stretching towards Chesterfield. The housing stock across that patch is part of why cabinet age and construction vary so much from job to job: solid Victorian cabinetry near the Castle and in the Lace Market's converted warehouses, painted inter-war units in Beeston, and 1950s-60s teak units further out in the newer suburbs. Wherever the job is, cabinets that need off-site work go back to our Nottingham workshop and return once finished.
