What's Included In Your Space-Optimised Design, And What Costs Extra

  • A free home visit to measure the room, walk the layout and note storage needs and awkward angles
  • Corner carousel and pull-out units to bring dead corner space into use
  • Full-height wall cabinets and vertical storage taken up to the ceiling
  • Slimline pull-out units for narrow gaps between appliances
  • Made-to-measure cabinetry scribed to fit out-of-square walls, common in older Nottingham terraces
  • Interior fit-out: pull-out trays, drawer dividers and fold-away worktops or breakfast bars
  • Appliance integration, including stacked ovens, slimline dishwashers, combination microwave/ovens and induction hobs
  • Coordination of the trades a kitchen needs -- carpentry, plumbing, electrics, gas safety and plastering -- under one written agreement
  • Minor structural work where it frees up space, such as partially removing a chimney breast while keeping its structural support
What's Included In Your Space-Optimised Design, And What Costs Extra

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Full building extensions or load-bearing wall removal -- these get referred to a structural engineer and building control
  • Granite, marble, quartz or sintered stone worktops -- laser-templated and priced separately by material once a design is agreed
  • New gas supply runs for a hob or range, which a Gas Safe engineer prices on site
  • Appliances themselves, unless they've been agreed as part of the quoted package
  • Redecoration of rooms outside the kitchen
From The First Home Visit To A Finished, Signed-Off Kitchen

From The First Home Visit To A Finished, Signed-Off Kitchen

  1. Free space assessment: A home visit to measure the room properly, see how people actually move through it, and note storage needs and any awkward angles or features before anything is designed.
  2. Design and 3D visualisation: Layout options -- work triangle, zoning, vertical storage -- get tested on CAD and interactive floor-planning software, so you see a photo-realistic view of the finished space before committing to anything.
  3. Written quotation and agreement: A full written quote covering design, cabinetry, worktops and any trade or structural work identified, agreed and signed off before manufacturing starts -- no hidden extras added later.
  4. Manufacture and trade scheduling: Cabinets are built to your measurements while plumbing, electrics, gas safety and plastering are scheduled in sequence, so the kitchen isn't left half-finished for longer than it needs to be.
  1. Installation: The in-house team fits the cabinetry, corner and storage systems, worktops and appliances -- a project involving some structural work, like the West Bridgford chimney breast job, typically runs around two weeks.
  2. Sign-off and warranty: A formal walk-through with you at completion, followed by a written installation warranty covering the finished job.

Who's Actually Doing The Design And The Fitting

Who's Actually Doing The Design And The Fitting

A space-optimised design only works if it's built to the millimetre the plan promises -- a corner carousel unit that's out by 15mm won't turn, and a slimline pull-out that's fractionally too wide won't clear the appliance next to it. That precision is what the cabinet-making side of a tight-space job comes down to, and because we're a family-run business -- over 20 years designing and fitting kitchens across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands, with 800+ kitchens completed, from Victorian terraces in the Lace Market to modern city-centre apartments -- the person who measures your awkward corner is usually the same person who decides how to fit it, not someone working from a spec sheet passed down a chain. Squeezing appliances into a reduced footprint, like stacking ovens or slotting a slimline dishwasher behind a run of cabinets, leaves less room

for error than a standard fit, which is why that work goes to qualified plumbers, Part P approved electricians and Gas Safe registered engineers rather than whoever's free that week. Every project is covered by a written agreement before work starts, a formal sign-off once the finished fit is checked against the original plan, and a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation with 2 years on products.

Where We Fit Space-Optimised Kitchens

Nottingham Kitchen Fitter works out of a dedicated regional workshop in Nottingham, covering Greater Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in a roughly 15-20 mile radius that takes in West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Long Eaton and out toward the Derbyshire border. What changes from one job to the next isn't really the postcode, it's the shape of the kitchen itself. Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Sneinton and the Lace Market tend to have long, narrow galley kitchens rather than open floor space, often with a chimney breast eating into one wall -- exactly the kind of layout a corner carousel unit, or a partial chimney breast removal like the West Bridgford job, is built to solve. Newer flats and apartments near the city centre and the Creative Quarter usually have the opposite problem: a small, open-plan footprint where the fix is getting more storage into less floor

area, which is where full-height wall cabinets and vertical storage earn their keep. Toward Wollaton and Beeston, 1930s semis and bungalows often have lower ceiling heights that cap how far wall units can run, so the layout has to be planned around the room's actual dimensions rather than a standard cabinet height. And in conservation-area terraces closer to Nottingham Castle and the sandstone caves beneath the city, floors that slope or step over the run of a kitchen wall are common enough that made-to-measure scribing, not a stock kitchen, is what gets a corner unit or tall cabinet sitting flush.
