What's Included When We Fit Energy-Efficient Appliances
- Removing and disconnecting your old appliances safely
- Installing new integrated or freestanding fridges, freezers, dishwashers, ovens, hobs and induction hobs into existing or new cabinetry
- Plumbing connections for dishwashers, fridge water/ice lines and boiling water taps, carried out by NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds trained plumbers
- Electrical connections and any new circuits needed for induction hobs, built-in ovens or other high-draw appliances, carried out by Part P approved electricians with safety certification issued on completion
- Gas hob and range installation and commissioning by Gas Safe registered engineers, including the safety checks needed before a gas appliance can legally be used
- Adjusting or modifying cabinetry so a new appliance sits flush and is properly ventilated -- poor fitting is one of the most common reasons an efficient appliance ends up using more power than its rating suggests

- Removal and legal disposal of your old appliances under our registered waste carrier licence
Not Included / Costed Separately
- Structural building work such as knocking through walls or moving a kitchen's footprint -- that's part of a full kitchen refit, not an appliance swap
- Extending a gas or electrical supply from outside the property -- a job for the utility or network provider, though we can point you toward who to contact
- Appliance repairs once out of warranty -- we install and support, but ongoing servicing is usually referred back to the manufacturer
- Laundry appliances fitted outside the kitchen footprint, such as a separate utility room -- these are quoted separately from a kitchen appliance job
How We Handle an Appliance Upgrade, Start to Finish
- Initial call and free consultation -- You tell us what's not working about your current appliances -- high running costs, noise, an old fridge on its last legs -- and we talk through options over the phone or book a home visit.
- Home assessment -- We look at your existing cabinetry, wiring and plumbing on site, measure the space, and check whether a like-for-like swap will fit or whether cabinets need adjusting -- this is also when we check if you need a new circuit for an induction hob or a water line for a plumbed-in fridge or dishwasher.
- Appliance selection and written quotation -- We talk through energy ratings, running costs and brands based on how you actually use your kitchen, then provide a full written quotation before any work starts, with no hidden extras.
- Delivery and installation -- Our own tradespeople handle delivery, disconnection of the old appliance, and the plumbing and electrical connections for the new one -- gas hobs and ranges are commissioned by a Gas Safe registered engineer as part of the same visit.
- Old appliance removal and sign-off -- We take away your old appliances under our registered waste carrier licence, test the new installation, and give you a formal sign-off with a written installation warranty.
What Appliance Upgrades Typically Cost
The appliances themselves are priced by the manufacturer, so a Bosch, Neff or Siemens fridge-freezer or induction hob costs the same whoever fits it -- what varies is the installation labour. A straightforward like-for-like swap, such as replacing an old fridge-freezer with a similarly sized model, is usually the quickest and cheapest job. Moving from a gas hob to induction, or fitting a dishwasher where there wasn't one before, tends to cost more because it can mean adding a new electrical circuit, running a water line, or capping off a redundant gas point -- work that has to be carried out by a qualified plumber or Part P approved electrician, not squeezed into a delivery slot. Because every kitchen's existing wiring, plumbing and cabinetry is different, we give a full written price after a home visit rather than over the phone, so there are no surprises once work starts. If appliances are part of a wider kitchen project, our fitted kitchens start from around £5,000, with finance available through an FCA-regulated partner, subject to status.

Trade-Qualified Fitting, Not Just a Delivery Slot
We've been designing and fitting kitchens across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands for over 20 years, and appliance installation is part of more than 800 kitchens completed for local homeowners -- everything from Victorian terraces with non-standard cabinet openings to modern city-centre apartments. We're not a chain: the person who visits your home to quote is part of the same team fitting the appliance. Plumbing connections for dishwashers, fridges and boiling-water taps are carried out by NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds qualified plumbers, electrical work by Part P approved installers who issue full safety certification, and any gas hob or range is commissioned by a Gas Safe registered engineer -- the only legal way for a gas appliance to be connected. Every job starts with a written agreement, ends with a formal sign-off, and carries a 5-year guarantee on our labour and installation, plus a 2-year guarantee on the products themselves. We're also members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Where We Fit Energy-Efficient Appliances
Most of our appliance-fitting jobs come from Beeston, Arnold and West Bridgford, then further out through Stapleford and Long Eaton toward Derby, Alfreton and the Chesterfield road -- all within the roughly 15-20 mile stretch our regional workshop covers. What changes the job more than the postcode is the building itself: newer apartment blocks around the Lace Market and the Creative Quarter are usually all-electric with no gas supply run in at all, which settles the hob question before a customer even gets as far as choosing a model -- induction is the only option, so our electricians size the circuit rather than debate gas versus electric. Further out, older terraces around Beeston and Arnold tend to have narrower hallways and tighter stair turns than a modern semi, so a large American-style fridge-freezer needs measuring against the doorway as well as the cabinet gap before we commit to a delivery date -- worth raising when you book the home visit rather than on the day itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Can I Save With Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliances?
This depends on what you're replacing and how you use your kitchen, but most Nottingham homes we work with save between £150-350 per year after switching to efficient appliances. Families who cook at home a lot save even more, especially with induction cooking instead of electric hobs. One family in Carlton reduced their cooking energy use by nearly 40%! The savings are usually bigger when you're replacing appliances that are over 10 years old, as efficiency has improved loads in the last decade.
What's The Payback Period For Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliances?
For most Nottinghamshire homes, you'll get your money back within 2-5 years, depending on which appliances you choose. Induction hobs typically pay for themselves within 3-4 years for families who cook daily. Dishwashers can have a very quick payback of just 1-2 years when replacing very old models, especially when you factor in water savings. Refrigeration usually has a payback of 4-5 years, but since these appliances typically last 10+ years, you'll be saving money for most of their life.
Which Kitchen Appliances Use The Most Energy?
From what we've seen in hundreds of Nottingham homes: Refrigeration (fridges and freezers) - about 40% of kitchen electricity use Cooking appliances - around 30% (more if you have an electric hob) Dishwashers - approximately 15% Small appliances - the remaining 15% (kettles, toasters, microwaves) This is why we always focus on fridge efficiency first - it's running 24/7 and makes the biggest difference to your bills. Electric kettles actually use a lot of power but for very short periods, so their overall consumption isn't as high as most people think.
What Energy Rating Should I Look For In Kitchen Appliances?
With the new energy label system, aim for: Refrigeration: B or C rating (equivalent to the old A+++) Dishwashers: C or D rating (sounds low but these are actually very efficient) Washing machines: C rating or better Ovens: A rating where possible Remember the new ratings are stricter, so a C rating today is much more efficient than a C rating was a few years ago. The actual energy consumption number (in kWh) is more important than just the letter, especially when comparing different sized appliances.
Are Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliances More Expensive?
Yes and no. They often cost a bit more upfront, but: The price gap has narrowed significantly in recent years Mid-range efficient appliances often outperform expensive inefficient ones The lifetime cost (purchase + running costs) is almost always lower They usually have better features and build quality too A customer in Ruddington recently told us: "I was going to buy the cheapest fridge I could find until Michael showed me how it would cost me an extra £75 a year to run. The better one payed for itself in under 4 years." We can help you find the sweet spot between upfront cost and long-term savings based on how you use your kitchen.
What Government Incentives Exist For Energy-Efficient Appliances?
Currently, there aren't direct government subsidies specifically for kitchen appliances, but several broader schemes might help: The Green Homes Grant (when active) sometimes covers kitchen improvements as part of wider energy-efficiency upgrades Energy Company Obligation (ECO) schemes occasionally include appliance upgrades for eligible households Manufacturer cashback offers on A-rated appliances At the local level, Nottingham City Council sometimes runs sustainability initiatives that provide discounts or incentives for reducing household carbon footprints. We keep up with these changing programmes and can advise on any you might qualify for during your kitchen renovation.
