What's Included When You Book a Backsplash Fitting

  • A home visit to measure the wall area and check for uneven or non-standard surfaces, common in older Nottingham properties
  • Physical samples brought to your kitchen so you can see materials against your actual units and worktop, in your own lighting
  • Supply of your chosen material - ceramic or porcelain tile, glass tile or panel, natural stone, stainless steel, quartz/composite, or timber
  • Full fitting: cutting and fixing tiles or panels, grouting tiled work, or bonding panel materials
  • A feature panel or contrasting detail behind the hob or cooker, worked into the same visit if wanted
  • Protection of worktops and cabinets during the work, plus clearing away offcuts and packaging when we're done
What's Included When You Book a Backsplash Fitting

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Ongoing sealing of natural stone after the first year - this is maintenance the homeowner needs to keep on top of
  • Significant replastering where a wall needs more than minor levelling once old tiling is stripped back - priced separately once we can see the wall underneath
  • Fitting labour on DIY-supply orders - materials and pointers are provided, but the fitting itself isn't included in that price
  • Work on structurally unsound or previously botched surfaces without first sorting the underlying problem
From First Call to Finished Splashback

From First Call to Finished Splashback

  1. Get in touch -- Call or message with a description of your kitchen and the look you're after; we can talk through material options before a visit is even booked.
  2. Home visit and samples -- We come to you, measure the wall area, check for uneven or non-standard surfaces, and bring physical samples so you can see them against your real units and worktop.
  3. Written quote -- You get a firm price covering both materials and fitting, so there's nothing sprung on you later.
  4. Fitting -- Most jobs take 1-2 days on site. Worktops and cabinets are protected throughout, then tiles or panels are cut, fixed and grouted (or bonded, for panel materials) to a level finish.
  5. Clean-up and sign-off -- Offcuts and packaging are cleared away and we walk through the finished job with you before calling it done.

Tile, Glass, Stone or Steel: How the Materials Compare

Material Maintenance Best suited to Watch-outs
Ceramic & porcelain tile Wipe clean; grout needs occasional attention Family kitchens on most budgets Grout colour affects how easily marks show
Glass tile or panel Wipe with glass cleaner; panels have no grout to clean Darker kitchens, contemporary looks Panels show fingerprints more readily than tile
Natural stone (marble, slate, travertine) Seal on fitting and every 1-2 years; avoid acidic cleaners Period and traditional Nottingham homes Higher price and more upkeep than tile
Stainless steel Wipe with a steel cleaner to avoid marks Behind hobs, matching steel appliances Shows fingerprints without regular wiping
Quartz or composite stone Wipe clean; very low maintenance Matching an existing quartz worktop Priced closer to natural stone than standard tile
Wood or timber Needs regular sealing; avoid excess water Away from sink and hob splash zones Not suited to areas that stay consistently wet

A Family Business That's Fitted 800+ Nottingham Kitchens

A backsplash sounds like a small job until you're standing in front of a stripped wall working out how tile lines are going to run around sockets, extractor ducting and a corner that isn't quite square - which is where having carpentry-trained hands on the job actually matters. Our City & Guilds trained craftsmen are used to working these junctions out properly rather than covering the problem with an extra bead of grout. Every job starts with a written agreement covering materials and fitting, so there's no small print about what's "supply only" once the quote is in your hand, and finishes with a formal sign-off backed by a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and 2 years on the materials themselves.

A Family Business That's Fitted 800+ Nottingham Kitchens

That approach has built up over 20+ years and 800+ completed kitchens across Nottingham and the East Midlands, and because we're not a national chain, the same person who measures your walls is the one who'd come back if a tile needed resetting. We're also members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Where We Fit Backsplashes Across Nottingham and the East Midlands

Where We Fit Backsplashes Across Nottingham and the East Midlands

Two things come up more than anything else when we're fitting backsplashes locally: sandstone caves and old stone walls. The caves running beneath Nottingham Castle and much of the city centre mean period properties nearby often have walls that were never quite plumb to start with, so tiling has to be scribed and packed out rather than assumed square - the kind of adjustment our Lace Market job needed. Out in Wollaton, the brief tends to flip the other way: homeowners restoring more traditional kitchens near Wollaton Hall often want a backsplash that reads as part of the existing stonework rather than a break from it, so material and finish get matched to sit against period detailing rather than stand out from it.

The same fitting team also covers West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton across Greater Nottingham; Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford in Nottinghamshire; and Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor into Derbyshire - roughly a 15-20 mile radius from our workshop that stretches as far as Chesterfield. Wherever the address, the same team handles the measuring, supply and fitting.
