Choosing a new worktop usually comes down to balancing the material you love against what it costs to buy, cut and fit -- and the price ranges further down this page show how wide that gap can be, from a laminate run costing under a hundred pounds a metre up to a granite slab quoted at several hundred pounds a square metre. What a price list can't show is what happens once a stonemason is laser-templating your kitchen and cutting sink and hob apertures on site, which is where the final fitted price often moves away from a supplier's headline rate.
We supply and fit worktops as part of our worktop supply and installation service, covering granite, marble, quartz and sintered surfaces such as Corian and Dekton, jointed on site by our own stonemasons rather than passed to a subcontractor working from someone else's cutting list.
What Our Worktop Supply and Fitting Covers
- Free home visit to measure your kitchen and talk through material options and budget
- Laser templating once your cabinets are fitted and levelled, for a precise cut
- In-house cutting of sink, hob, drainer and upstand sections to the templated shape
- Edge profiling, including the granite edging finish referenced above
- Removal and disposal of your old worktop under our registered waste carrier licence
- Fitting and jointing by our own stonemasons, whether as part of a full kitchen or a worktop-only replacement

Not Included / Costed Separately
- The sink, tap or hob unit itself -- these are supplied and fitted separately, though we can integrate them into the new worktop
- Correcting cabinets that are out of level -- packing or adjustment is quoted once we've seen the units on site
- Unusual or bespoke cutouts beyond a standard sink and hob aperture, which take extra fabrication time and add to the price
- Colour-matching guarantees on natural stone or marble, since every slab has its own natural veining and variation
- Listed building or conservation area consent, where relevant -- that stays with the homeowner to arrange
From First Measure to Fitted Worktop
- Free home visit -- We measure your kitchen, talk through material options against your budget, and show samples so you can see finishes before committing.
- Written quotation -- You get a transparent, written quote covering material, templating, cutting and fitting -- no hidden extras added later.
- Laser templating -- Once your cabinets are in and levelled, we take a laser template of the exact space, including sink, hob and any upstand cutouts.
- Off-site cutting and edge profiling -- Stone and solid-surface worktops are cut and edge-profiled in the workshop to the templated shape; laminate and wood worktops are cut to the same measurements.
- Old worktop removal -- Your existing worktop is taken out and disposed of under our registered waste carrier licence.
- Fitting, jointing and sign-off -- Our stonemasons and joiners fit and seam the new worktop on site, seal it where the material needs it, and hand over with a written installation warranty.
Worktop Materials Compared: Heat, Maintenance and Where the Price Sits
| Material | Price position | Heat resistance | Ongoing maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Granite | Premium | Excellent | Needs periodic resealing |
| Quartz | Premium, similar to granite | Good -- avoid direct pan-from-hob contact | Wipe clean, no sealing needed |
| Marble | Highest of the stone options | Good, but avoid acidic spills | Regular sealing and gentle cleaning |
| Solid surface | Mid-range | Moderate -- use a trivet | Can be sanded and buffed if scratched or scorched |
| Wood | Mid-range | Good, naturally heat resistant | Regular oiling to keep it protected |
| Stainless steel | Mid-to-premium | Excellent | Wipe down; shows scratches and fingerprints |
| Laminate | Budget | Poor -- keep pans off the surface | Wipe clean; damage usually means replacement, not repair |
In-House Stonemasons, Not a Subcontracted Fitting Team
Every worktop we quote is templated, cut and jointed by stonemasons who work for us directly, not a slab supplier's subcontracted installer who's never seen your kitchen before fitting day. That matters most with granite and marble, where a joint line or an edge profile is only as good as the person cutting it, and it's why laser templating only happens once your units are physically in place and level -- cutting to a plan drawn up in advance risks a seam that doesn't sit flush. We're a family-run business that's been designing, cutting and fitting kitchens across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands for over 20 years, with more than 800 kitchens completed for local homeowners in that time, and every worktop -- whether it's part of a full kitchen or a standalone replacement -- comes with a written agreement before work starts, a written installation warranty at handover, a 5-year guarantee on the labour and installation, and a 2-year guarantee on the materials themselves. As members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses, we're answerable to trade standards that a one-off slab supplier working alone isn't.
How Far We Travel to Fit a Worktop
Worktop templating and fitting is run from our regional workshop and covers Nottingham and the wider East Midlands: most bookings sit within Greater Nottingham -- West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton -- with further work across Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford in Nottinghamshire, and Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor in Derbyshire, out to Chesterfield and the Derbyshire border at the edge of our roughly 15-20 mile reach. Because a granite or quartz slab travels by van rather than post, distance mainly affects delivery scheduling rather than the fitting itself -- jobs closer to the workshop can usually go from template to fitted worktop within a fortnight, while the Chesterfield end of our coverage needs the cutting and delivery run planned a little further ahead. In the Lace Market and around Nottingham Castle, older terraces rarely have a dead-level floor, which is exactly why templating only happens once your cabinets are fitted and checked, not from a plan drawn up beforehand.
Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the price ranges on this page apply exactly to my kitchen?
They're a starting point, not a quote -- the figures assume an average UK kitchen of around 12 square metres, and your actual cost depends on your kitchen's shape, how many cutouts and joints are needed, and the edge profile you choose. A free home visit lets us measure properly and give you a full written quotation with no hidden extras, rather than a range that may not reflect your kitchen.
Which worktop material is the best value over time?
It depends on how you use your kitchen. Laminate is the cheapest to buy but will need replacing once it's scratched, scorched or delaminated, since it can't be repaired. Granite and quartz cost more upfront but resist heat and knocks well and, in the case of quartz, need no resealing at all, so the extra cost can work out cheaper across the life of the kitchen. Wood and solid surface sit in between -- both can be sanded back if damaged, which extends their life without a full replacement.
Can you fit a new worktop without replacing the whole kitchen?
Yes -- we template and fit worktop-only replacements as well as worktops that are part of a full kitchen install, provided your existing cabinets are sound and level. We'll check this on the home visit before quoting.
How long does templating and fitting actually take?
Templating itself is quick, usually done in one visit once your cabinets are fitted and levelled. Stone and solid-surface worktops then go to the workshop for cutting and edge profiling, which typically takes around one to two weeks before the fitting visit, depending on the material and how busy the workshop is. Laminate and wood worktops usually turn around faster.
What happens to my old worktop?
We remove it and dispose of it legally under our registered waste carrier licence, so you don't need to arrange separate skip hire or a tip run for it.
Should I choose granite or quartz?
Both sit in the same premium price bracket and both resist heat and scratches well. Granite is natural stone, so every slab is genuinely one of a kind, but it needs resealing periodically to keep it stain-resistant. Quartz is engineered, so the colour and pattern are more consistent across the whole worktop, and it doesn't need sealing at all. It usually comes down to whether you want the natural variation of real stone or the more uniform, lower-maintenance finish of an engineered surface.
What guarantee do I get on a new worktop?
Every worktop fitted by us is covered by a written installation warranty handed over on completion, with a 5-year guarantee on the labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on the materials.
Can I spread the cost of a new kitchen and worktop?
Yes, we offer flexible finance through an FCA-regulated partner, subject to status. Kitchens with a new worktop typically start from around £5,000 -- your free home visit and written quotation will confirm where your project sits against that.
