Choosing quartz is only the first decision - the details that follow, from edge profile to finish and colour, are what turn a supply-only worktop into a design that's genuinely yours. This page sets out how those customisation choices translate into scope, pricing and next steps for homeowners in Nottingham and the surrounding area, alongside the questions we're asked most at the consultation stage. If the worktop is part of a wider re-fit rather than a standalone swap, our kitchen design and installation team can coordinate the whole project, or you can read more about the quartz worktops we template, cut and fit in-house.
What's Included When You Customise a Quartz Worktop With Us
- A free design consultation to talk through colour, pattern, edge profile and finish against your existing kitchen
- On-site laser templating, so the slab is cut to your exact worktop rather than a standard stock size
- Your choice of edge profile - straight, bevelled, bullnose, ogee, mitred or pencil
- Your choice of finish - polished, honed, concrete-effect or leathered
- In-house cutting and fabrication, including sink, hob and drainer cut-outs made to your template
- Seamless on-site jointing and fitting by our own stonemasons, not a subcontractor
- A CAD/interactive floor-planning preview of the finished design before the slab is cut
- Written sign-off and an installation warranty once fitting is complete

Not Included / Costed Separately
- Removing and disposing of your existing worktop - we can arrange this under our registered waste carrier licence, but it's quoted separately from the customisation itself
- Plumbing reconnection of taps, sinks, waste units or appliances beyond the cut-out - our NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds plumbers can price this in if it's needed
- New electrical points or hob wiring - handled by our Part P approved electricians where the design calls for it
- Structural changes to cabinet carcasses, if a change in worktop depth or overhang means the units underneath need adjusting
- Ongoing care products for honed, concrete-effect or leathered finishes - these need more upkeep than polished quartz, and cleaning products aren't part of the fitting price

What Actually Moves the Price of a Customised Worktop
The factors set out above genuinely are the ones that move the price: the edge profile you choose, the finish (polished is generally the most cost-effective; honed, concrete-effect and leathered take longer to process), and how rare or intricate the pattern is. What we won't do is quote a fixed figure for “a quartz worktop” without seeing your kitchen - slab quantity, the number of cut-outs, and the edge profile all change the fabrication time, so a proper price needs the free home visit and laser template first. That visit comes with a written, no-obligation quotation with no hidden extras, and where the customisation is part of a larger kitchen project, flexible finance is available through an FCA-regulated partner, subject to status.

Stonemasons Who Template, Cut and Fit Your Quartz In-House
Customisation is only ever as good as the fabrication and fitting behind it. Our stonemasons handle the laser templating, cutting and on-site jointing themselves as part of our stone and engineered surfaces team, so the person who measures your kitchen is accountable for how the finished edge and joint actually turn out - nothing is handed off to a separate subcontractor partway through. That accountability is baked into how the business has always worked: two decades-plus fitting kitchens across Nottingham and the East Midlands, past the 800-kitchen mark now, with the same people who quote the job still the ones templating and cutting the slab. It's why quartz customisation here has covered everything from squeezing a template around an awkward chimney breast in a Lace Market conversion to a clean, handleless run in a new-build city apartment. Before any slab is
touched, our CAD and interactive floor-planning software gives you a photo-realistic view of your chosen colour, edge and finish, and every project finishes with a written installation warranty plus a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on the quartz itself.
Where We Template and Fit Customised Quartz Worktops
Every customisation starts with an on-site laser templating visit, and that visit is one we can make across a fairly wide patch: Nottingham itself first, then out to West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold and Sneinton closer to the city, and further afield to Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Stapleford in Nottinghamshire, or Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton and Heanor in Derbyshire - roughly a 15 to 20 mile reach from the workshop, stretching towards Chesterfield and the Derbyshire border. What changes from street to street is the quartz that actually suits the kitchen: in the Lace Market's converted warehouse apartments, a concrete-effect or honed dark quartz with a straight edge tends to suit the exposed brick and matte-black hardware already in the space, while around Wollaton Hall's more traditional streets, a lighter, veined marble-look quartz with a bullnose or ogee edge sits better against period cabinetry.

Wherever the address, the slab is templated on-site and fabricated at our workshop before we come back to fit it.
Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see what my chosen colour and edge profile will actually look like before the quartz is cut?
Yes. We use CAD and interactive floor-planning software during the design phase to give you a photo-realistic view of your chosen colour, pattern, edge profile and finish against your own kitchen layout, so changes can be made before anything is fabricated rather than after.
How long does a quartz worktop customisation project take from consultation to fitting?
It depends on what you choose - a straight edge in a polished finish is quicker to fabricate than an ogee edge in a leathered finish, and slab availability for less common colours or patterns can add time. We'll give you a realistic timeframe once the design and material are agreed at consultation rather than a generic estimate that doesn't hold up once cutting starts.
Will you remove and dispose of my old worktop?
We can, and we hold a registered waste carrier licence so it's disposed of legally, but this is quoted separately from the customisation itself rather than automatically bundled in - let us know at the consultation and we'll price it in.
Can the fabrication include cut-outs for my sink, hob or drainer grooves?
Yes, cut-outs are made during in-house fabrication to the measurements taken at your laser templating visit, so the sink, hob and any drainer grooves line up with the appliances and fittings you're keeping or installing.
Who actually cuts and fits the worktop - is it subcontracted out?
No. Templating, cutting and on-site jointing are all carried out by our own stonemasons as part of our stone and engineered surfaces team, and you deal directly with the people doing the work rather than a third party we've brought in.
Is there a guarantee on the customisation and fitting?
Yes - every project gets a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on the quartz product itself, along with a written sign-off once fitting is complete.
Which finish is easiest to live with day-to-day?
For a busy kitchen, a polished finish is generally the most practical - it's stain-resistant and wipes clean easily. Honed, concrete-effect and leathered finishes look distinctive but show fingerprints and smudges more readily and need a bit more regular care, as set out above.
