Most homeowners land on this page already sold on Dekton -- the real question is what happens once the job is booked in. Nottingham Kitchen Fitter's own stonemasons handle the templating, cutting and fitting in-house rather than sending the slab out to a third-party fabricator, which matters with an ultra-hard sintered material because the same team who measures the kitchen is the one who cuts and fits it. If you're still weighing Dekton against quartz or want a wider view of what drives the final price, our worktop cost guide sets out what changes the figure.

What's Included In A Dekton Worktop Installation

  • A free home visit and design consultation, with CAD/interactive floor-planning so you can see the worktop and colour against your units before committing
  • Precise laser templating carried out on-site, taken once your base units are in place so cut-outs for sinks, hobs and upstands are measured to the real room, not a drawing
  • Factory cutting of the Dekton slab to size on in-house fabrication machinery, working from that template
  • Fitting by our own stonemasons, with joints and edges finished as close to seamless as the material allows
  • Cut-outs and integration for sinks, hobs and appliances as part of the templated fit
  • A written, no-obligation quotation before booking, and a formal sign-off with installation warranty on completion
What's Included In A Dekton Worktop Installation

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Removing and disposing of your old worktop -- this can be arranged under our registered waste carrier licence, but flag it at quote stage so it's priced in
  • Sealing or resealing treatments -- Dekton is non-porous, so unlike granite or marble it doesn't carry this ongoing maintenance cost
  • Changes to cabinetry, plumbing or electrics needed to support the new surface -- if the project is a full kitchen re-fit rather than a worktop swap, that's scoped and quoted as its own part of the job
How A Dekton Worktop Job Runs, Start To Finish

How A Dekton Worktop Job Runs, Start To Finish

  1. Enquiry and free consultation: Call or ask for a home visit; a designer talks through colours, textures and how Dekton will sit against existing or planned units, using CAD so you can see it before agreeing to anything.
  2. Templating: Once base units are fitted (or the old worktop is out), we laser-template the space on-site, capturing exact dimensions, out-of-square walls and every cut-out for sinks, hobs and appliances.
  3. Factory cutting: The slab is cut to size on our own fabrication machinery from that template, rather than a generic size trimmed down on-site.
  4. Installation: Our stonemasons fit and join the slabs on-site, using high-quality adhesive so seams and edges sit as close to invisible as the material allows.
  5. Sign-off and warranty: A walk-through of the finished worktop, followed by a written installation warranty before the job is considered done.

What A Dekton Worktop Actually Costs

Dekton is priced closer to granite or marble than to laminate or budget quartz -- size, slab thickness, colour and edge finish all move the figure, and a kitchen with more cut-outs and joins costs more to template and fit than a single run. As a guide, a full kitchen project through Nottingham Kitchen Fitter starts from around £5,000, with finance available through an FCA-regulated partner subject to status, though a worktop-only job is priced separately from a full kitchen re-fit. Because the final price depends on the exact template rather than a sample board or a photo, a firm figure only comes after a free home visit and a written, no-obligation quotation with no hidden extras.

Dekton Compared To Other Worktop Materials

Material Heat resistance Scratch/stain resistance Sealing needed Good for outdoor use
Dekton Withstands temperatures up to 400°C without scorching or cracking Highly scratch and stain resistant, non-porous surface No -- non-porous, no sealing required Yes -- UV resistant, doesn't fade
Granite Good heat resistance but prolonged direct heat can still mark it Scratch resistant but a natural stone, so more porous than Dekton Yes -- needs periodic resealing to stay stain resistant Limited -- some granites suit outdoor use, others don't
Quartz Engineered stone can discolour or crack under prolonged high heat Very scratch resistant No sealing needed Not generally recommended -- resin content can fade in direct sun
Laminate Poor -- can scorch or blister from hot pans Prone to scratching and chipping over time No sealing, but can't be repolished if damaged No

Why Homeowners Trust Us With Their Worktop

Dekton is cut and fitted by the same stonemasons who template it, working out of our own factory rather than a subcontractor -- if a join doesn't sit right, it's our team that fixes it, not a call centre. That's backed by a written installation warranty and a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation, 2 years on products, agreed in a transparent written agreement before work starts so there are no hidden fees. We're a family-run business, trading for over 20 years and behind 800+ kitchens across Nottingham and the East Midlands, from Victorian terraces in the Lace Market to modern city-centre apartments, and we're members of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

Where We Fit Dekton Worktops

Where We Fit Dekton Worktops

We fit Dekton worktops across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands from a dedicated regional workshop, covering Greater Nottingham (West Bridgford, Wollaton, Beeston, Arnold, Sneinton), Nottinghamshire (Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Stapleford) and Derbyshire (Derby, Long Eaton, Alfreton, Heanor), roughly a 15-20 mile radius stretching out to Chesterfield and the Derbyshire border. In the Lace Market and Creative Quarter, Dekton's rougher, textured finishes suit the exposed brick and matte-black hardware that industrial-chic kitchens there tend to use; nearer Wollaton Hall, its marble-inspired finishes sit well against more traditional cabinetry. Templating and delivery run the same routes as the rest of our fitting work, including the NET tram corridor through Beeston and Clifton.
